LANDRACE Wheels - Handmade at Cyclefit

LANDRACE has become our most popular wheelset at Cyclefit in the last two years. And not just on our own LANDRACE bikes. They are being raced, commuted and being ridden all over the world. Our second most popular wheel is Enve by the way. Everyone that has ridden has come away with a raised eyebrow - responsive, fast and superb quality.

The Art of Wheel-building

We have always built wheels at Cyclefit. Phil started as a wheel-builder (don't ask, he has forgotten). It is a skill that is taken seriously and comes with a reputation. It is a totemic skill of of a craftsman because it links technical proficiency with the just the right amount of flair and art. Every builder has a technique or little flourish all of their own. Every set of LANDRACE Wheels takes Barna about an hour to complete.

Barna's Wheel-Building Guiding Principles

  • Never build when you are tired or grumpy. The wheel will suffer
  • Always use the best components. Poor components are a false economy. They take longer to build and the ride will suffer. Great rims, great hubs and spokes you trust
  • Take your time. Handbuilts take longer than machine-built
  • Always balance 'hop' as well as 'true' - the best wheel will never be far from equilibrium at anytime in the build
  • Bring the wheel to full tension with patience - this is the bit that sets the best builders apart

We look forward to building you a set of LANDRACE Wheels
