"Bike-fitting & custom bike design at the highest level are predicated on a fundamental judgment of an athlete's arc"

The Bike That Jack Built!

Jack took the old Cyclefit maxim of "buy well, buy once" to its logical apotheosis.

The brief was a custom titanium bike of outstanding aesthetic virtue, that would be as happy clinging to the slopes of The Col Galibier as a single-track in Epping Forest or Yorkshire. The fit and geometry would have to allow jack to hugely ramp up his fitness (he has) and training load and still feel exciting.

Anticipating The Arc

Bike-fitting and custom bike design at the highest level are predicated on a judgment of an athlete's arc. Where are they destined? How committed are they? Will they look the same in twelve or eighteen months as they do today? Where is the bike's bullseye - ahead of them, on them or able to chase them back down the performance curve?

With Jack the judgment was easy. His sporting history, relative youth and ambition dictated this dream-bike had to nudge ahead as an incentive. a destination.

We are very proud to feature Jack's custom No22 Drifter with a Cerakote finish.

What our clients say

  • "I tried the shorter cranks today and I like them - it feels like it's less stress for the back and it seems easier to ride higher cadence. In the end I had a good Tour with no back problems. Thanks for your help!"

    Bauke Mollema
  • "The personal service from both Phil and Julian is second to none. They have such a wealth of experience in fitting that they can almost tell at a glance if something is just a little off. It felt as though it didn't matter how long it took to get the best position possible - even for an amateur cyclist like myself. Can't recommend them enough."

  • "Very very personalised service. You arrive, they expect you, greet you by first name, have checked your file from past visits and set out very clearly what the process will be, what issues they're looking to address and how and they are happy to take the time to walk you through everything in layman's terms. Almost any professional service entity could learn a lot from how Cyclefit works. "
