2020 Trek Domane SLR Disc 1 x 11

Frame up build for multi-day Alp rides and light gravel

11 - 46 cassette for mountains and gravel

Mrs B loves riding her old Trek Domane with its compact chainset and 11-34 cassette but after three or four days of climbing in the Alps her tired legs thwarted her ambition; so, using that as an excuse Mrs B thought about a new bike to help her up the mountains and incorporate some light gravel adventures.

The new Trek Domane is only available in a 2 x 11 or 2 x 12 option but with its increased tyre clearances the 2020 frameset does lend itself to having 38mm gravel tyres installed for riding over tracks and trails.

Kept it black and ordered the frameset through Project One to get the paint, the standard colour looked a little too much like her old bike.

The Shimano shifters and brakes are Ultegra Di2 disc, the rear mech is a Shimano XT mountain bike derailleur with a clutch to keep the chain tensioned and big enough to accommodate the 11 - 46 tooth cassette range. The powermeter is by Quarq and has a 42 tooth chainring.

The Bontrager Aeolus XXX2 carbon rimmed wheels are one of cycling's best kept secrets, weighing in at 1380 grams and with a lifetime warranty and two year free crash damage replacement programme. Tyres are Continental GP5000 28mm tubeless.

What our clients say

  • "I tried the shorter cranks today and I like them - it feels like it's less stress for the back and it seems easier to ride higher cadence. In the end I had a good Tour with no back problems. Thanks for your help!"

    Bauke Mollema
  • "The personal service from both Phil and Julian is second to none. They have such a wealth of experience in fitting that they can almost tell at a glance if something is just a little off. It felt as though it didn't matter how long it took to get the best position possible - even for an amateur cyclist like myself. Can't recommend them enough."

  • "I have a lot of trust in you guys and I know how you work so I think we could do something good. Orthotics feeling good."

    Tom Pidcock

World and Olympic champion, Ineos Grenadiers.

  • "Very very personalised service. You arrive, they expect you, greet you by first name, have checked your file from past visits and set out very clearly what the process will be, what issues they're looking to address and how and they are happy to take the time to walk you through everything in layman's terms. Almost any professional service entity could learn a lot from how Cyclefit works. "

  • "I'm new to cycling so needed some support on finding a bike that would be right for me. Julian couldn't have been kinder or more supportive, he took time to find out what I wanted from my cycling and then looked closely at my physical structure to ensure that the bike is a comfortable fit for me. It really is a 5 star service and far exceeded my expectations."
