Passoni Factory Visit
Passoni HQ visit, Vineyard Tour, Monte Isola, La Madonna Del Ghisallo, Lake Como, Bellagio
Thursday 15th June to Sunday 18th June
We are delighted to offer in association with Italy Bike Tours a unique opportunity to visit and experience the work that goes in to producing Passoni's iconic and revered titanium frames.
You are invited to visit Passoni’s HQ in Milan to discover how they make their beautiful frames and meet the craftsmen and women who create their iconic titanium bicycles.
There will be the opportunity to ride some of the new Passoni models and discover for yourself why Passoni is the choice of cyclists who appreciate their un-paralleled Italian bike making expertise.
Your stay will include beautiful rides on roads made famous by cycling’s greatest riders in the Giro d’Italia; with spectacular views over lakes, mountains and vineyards. Italy Bike Tours guides and Cyclefit will ensure you have a wonderful experience.
Thursday 15th June
On arrival at Milan Linate airport you will be meet by the team who will transfer you the short distance to Passoni HQ. Before starting your tour you will have a chance to sample Italian coffee and brioche courtesy of Passoni
Danilo Colombo will take you on a tour of the facility and happily answer questions along the way. Once the tour is complete clients who have brought their bikes will have them assembled by Passoni staff. Those wishing to hire a bike will have a brief bike fit (if required) and bike set to their dimensions.
After lunch we will transfer you to Pisogne on Lake Iseo. A quintessentially Italian town that offers all the beauty and characteristics one would expect from one of Northern Italy’s most famous towns.
Our first ride of the weekend, in the late afternoon, will take us on spectacular and relatively easy 75km around Lake Iseo. Synonymous with the Giro d’Italia, Lake Iseo is popular with both amateur and professional cyclists. Indeed Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas where based on the lake for 2 years prior to joining Team SKY. Along the way we stop and visit one of the many Vineyards to pause and maybe sample the odd wine or two.
The evening will be spent relaxing, eating in the award winning restaurant and soaking in spectacular views from Hotel La Pieve.
Friday 16th June
After a traditional Italian breakfast we will head north up Val Camonica towards the foothills of the Alps. This is Pantani ‘country’ and along the way you will pass Montecampione - which for many was Pantani’s most iconic moment on a bike – on his way to winning the Giro / Tour double in 1998.
The ride will be 80km long and again mainly flat however depending on how the group are feeling we may offer an optional climb for those that want to test the legs. We will pass pretty villages, ride over ancient bridges and of course be sure to stop for coffee and soak in the scenery.
In the evening we will take the short boat trip to Monte Isola, which sits proudly in the middle of Lake Iseo. The largest inhabited ‘lake’ island in Europe is a ‘must do’ for anyone visiting the area.
Dinner will be served in the islands finest restaurant, Castello Oldofredi.
Saturday 17th June
After breakfast the team will transfer you to Como, an area of Italy that is on many a cyclist's bucket list. On arrival the team will prepare your bikes and your guide will take you on a route that passes some of the most expensive villas in the world. As you head in to Bellagio on the 65km ride you will get spectacular views of Lake Como before you tackle Monte Ghisallo.
Recently voted in the top 10 most beautiful climbs in Europe Monte Ghisallo offers both a challenge and the chance to visit the famous cycling museum found at the top of the climb. At 11km in length and with an average gradient of 5.4% it is a delightful climb.
A steady descent back in to Como and a well deserved ice cream (or something stronger) await those that chose to join us on the perfect weekend of cycling in Lombardia.
The evening is left ‘free’ for you to explore the restaurants and bars in and around Pisogne.
Sunday 18th June
The best cycling experiences abroad are planned yet flexible and on Sunday morning we will propose a number of routes for you. Depending on how you and the group are feeling will depend if we go on a short coffee ride or maybe even ride Montecampione!
The afternoon will be spent preparing your bikes for departure before your evening transfer to the airport.
